We are currently accepting applications for a Full-Time afternoon shift driver.
Job Purpose:
To ensure that product is handled and kept in compliance with all internal policies, GMP and local and Federal Food Regulations (CFIA / HACCP). Help load the truck. Deliver product to the customer as ordered and meet appointment times.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Check and count each customer order on a pallet as its being loaded onto truck.
- Make sure that each order for each customer is correct when delivering.
- Keep management informed of delays or waiting while on your run.
- Make sure that you follow ALL procedures that are in place.
- Report all tickets, fines and accidents to management ASAP.
- Make sure that a proper “pre-trip inspection” is done daily at the start of the shift.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Requirements:
- Class 1 Driver’s License-air endorsement (standard experience required) with minimum 2 years experience/qualification with no penalty points in the current year, no more than 4 points in the previous year and no 24-hour suspensions in the prior 5 years
- Current and original “N” driver abstract.
- Current and original 6 years ICBC history report.
- Back up for 5-ton deliveries & hand bombing may be required.
- Possess a high school diploma preferred.
- Must be at least 19 years of age.
- Possession of current Food safe certificate is an asset.
- Possession of current First Aid Level 1 ticket is an asset.
- Fluent English – spoken and written. Legible handwriting a must.
- Able to perform basic calculations and mathematical figures.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and professional working relationships with customers, employees and Supervisors.
- Ability to multitask and deal with constant traffic conditions.
- High level of manual dexterity required for operating equipment.
- Self-starter with strong organization skills and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent listening skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High level of integrity and work ethic.
Working Conditions:
- Flexible work schedule from time to time.
- Overtime as required.
- Exposure to wet/cold conditions – potential for ice and slippery working conditions.
- Exposure to excessive noise.
- Physically demanding – required long periods of walking/standing.
- Required to do heavy lifting throughout the day.
